Temple Town Hall Advisory Committee
Final Minutes - 15 September 2010

Members Present: Honey Hastings, Dick Keuper, Connie Kieley, Ron Pulos, Tedd Petro, Sydney Thomas

Members Absent: Dick Benotti

Others Present (from 4:30): Anne Lunt, Priscilla Weston

The meeting began at 4 pm.

The following slate of officers was elected unanimously:
Connie Kieley - chair
Ron Pulos - vice chair
Honey Hastings - secretary

Work of the Committee - Connie circulated a description of committee responsibilities for discussion. She will revise based on the discussion; revised description is attached to these minutes. Tedd is a voting, ex officio member who will act as liaison with Select Board. The Committee went upstairs to inspect some problems in meeting room and hallway. There are stains on rug and need for wall paint due to problems from air conditioner.

There has been some discussion of having a combined Building Committee for all 3 town buildings, but Honey suggested that the Town Hall has more need for oversight as no town staff work there regularly.

Historical Society Cabinet - (Anne and Priscilla present)
Connie apologized for not acting earlier when Priscilla and Honey came to Select Board for approval of display cabinet in Annex. Ron read the Committee’s description (see attached) so that Anne and Priscilla would be aware of its function. Anne described the origin of cabinet proposal - Priscilla’s dream of a display case to show some of Historical Society’s special items to residents.

With the Glassmaker’s Exhibit beginning in November, the plan was to use the cabinet at the Peterborough Historical Society, then install it in the Town Hall Annex. As Curator of Temple Historical Society, Priscilla presented the cabinet idea to the Select Board and it was approved.

The Committee and Temple Historical Society had a long and detailed discussion of the cabinet design, features, and location. The following basics were agreed-on:
1. painted back, not mirror, color of Annex woodwork
2. size 48" x 30"
3. locate on west wall of Annex meeting room, to left of window (side with US flag) [drawing of Temple there to go to back wall of meeting room]
4. wiring for light to be in wall, not with cord to outlet
5. frame not to include metal strip or be curved (as picture of sample)
Not resolved:
a. finish--Connie will ask Dick for sample of dark stain
b. may or may not be cherry
c. shape of frame--discussed: colonial & like "good Roads" photo frame. No discussion after meeting room location chosen. (Could existing frames in that room be an inspiration?)

Connie will discuss these agreed-on basics with Dick Benotti and ask him to do some new finish samples. We will meet on 21 September to look at samples.

The meeting adjourned at 5:42 pm.
Submitted by Honey Hastings.
